Monday Made It

July 1, 2013 By Mercedes Hutchens 6 Comments

Today is definitely Monday Made It for me.

About a year ago, I started this blog and started sharing products on TPT.  I was overwhelmed by all the Terms of Use out there so I started making my own backgrounds and clipart.  Eventually I started selling it.

The great thing is that now, when I need something, I just make it.  One of my plans for this summer was to start going through things I made for myself and getting them ready to share.  Today, I started and have uploaded 3 items today.

The first was my Checkerboard Frames.  One day I was working on a math PowerPoint and I wanted a simple but colorful picture for the background that allowed a lot of room for words and numbers.  That’s when I made these.

Then I discovered that I hadn’t yet shared my Honeycomb Backgrounds.

The very first background I made was a wave background, but I was new to things and it wasn’t quite perfect.  Today I set out to fix the file I had and ended up making a whole Wave Backgrounds file.  I think this is my new favorite.  This set has one color on white for brightness, but I’m thinking of doing some multi tone ones in the future.

Some backgrounds are hard to share in a preview file so here is an example.  You can right click it and save that pick to use as a freebie if you like.  (The quality that way may not be great.)

Once I’ve made something, I want to share it.
The first three people to comment can have their favorite as a freebie.
Just tell me which one you’d like and leave your email.  If you aren’t one of the first three to comment, no worries.  The three files are currently half off.  I’ll keep it that way all day Monday.  (If it is after Monday, you can click and check and see if the sale is still on.  I’ll take it down some time Tuesday.)
I feel like it is cheating to make things on the computer, so I must share an actual Made It.  Wait, I used a computer to make this, but then it went onto a real life object….
We named our kayak after nicknames my husband has for his daughters and I made the name in vinyl.
We took it out yesterday and the name is still looking great. Maybe not as great as the view from the isolated beach we landed on.  The vinyl lettering is in a shadow, but honestly I was focusing my photo on the island we kayaked around. 🙂

I was making my own papers too, but not selling them at the time. I didn't think anyone would want them, lol! Thanks to you I purchased the Art Studio for my iPad and have been able to make all sorts of great clipart:) Congrats on all of your success! That picture is gorgeous!

Very nice backgrounds! What program did you use to create them?
