My team was discussing the challenge of helping all students try their best as they know that the Winter Break is approaching. With fun activities coming up, it seems easy to use them as motivation. I find that rewards are motivating when it feels fair. The best way to make sure everything feels fair is to have clear expectations ahead of time.
We came up with this…
It had specific dates, but I changed it to make it generic in case one of you wanted to use the picture.
My students asked very specific well thought out questions when I showed it to them. We had a discussion about strategies for staying in positive points. I reminded them that when you clip down early in the day, you should show that you are making an effort to turn your day around so it isn’t on yellow at the end of the day.
What are you doing to keep your students motivated?
I will be honest…yesterday I was not very motivated in the positive department…especially after lunch!
It seemed like the more I focused on good behavior, the crazier they got. It was a wacko day for sure!
