Time is not my friend right now.
School starts Wednesday but Meet the Teacher Night is Tuesday. Every time I go into my classroom, my to do list gets longer. It’s not that nothing is getting done. It’s just that everything I do reminds me of more things I need to do.
I think the strangest part of being a teacher is how the last few weeks of summer are soooo much work. How many times have you had someone ask you, “What do you DO all summer?” Our job never stops. No one requires (or pays) us to work over the summer, but we do.
What are we supposed to do? Walk into school like my nightmare where I don’t go in until the first day of school.
What if I just waited?
I started to make a list of what it would be like but the list stressed me out so much I had to erase it.
I did accomplish a lot today. I had a productive meeting with my team today. We agreed on a lot of important procedures. I made copies for the first few weeks of math. I organized more. I got my lesson plan book ready.
Speaking of lesson plan books….
My friend, Kari, shared with me last year how she makes her own lesson plan pages in powerpoint by inserting a table. I love it.
If you want a copy of the file, come by on Monday. It is one of a few things I’ll post for Manic Monday.
I’m so excited about my portable clip chart! I couldn’t resist posting it one more time. |

I feel they same and worry about all the little things that NEED to get done but you are right they are just kids. They only thing that makes we work like crazy during the summer and super crazy the week or two before school starts is that all that work (planning) will make me feel prepared and the school year will go smoothly.
Have a great 1st Day of school!

And the school going smoothly is a must. I think many of the kids may not say it, but they do appreciate the extra effort!
