Tips for Newbies Linky

July 28, 2012 By Mercedes Hutchens 12 Comments

In the last month, I’ve started this blog, learned to create clipart, created some products,  and opened stores to sell things I’ve created.  It’s been exciting, fun, and (if I’m honest) exhausting!

One of the challenges was figuring out every little step.  I’d google things.  Blog hop.  And after a few hours, I couldn’t remember where I saw what I saw.

I’ve had a few friends ask for tips, and a few comments asking how I did certain things.  That’s how the idea for this linky was born.  I have a few blog posts planned to talk about the basics that I’ll link up.  I’m still learning, so as I learn, I’ll share.  BUT, there are sooo many of you out there that already have those types of posts and I’m hoping you’ll link up.  I know when I started I wished I had a way to go back to great posts with tips that I found in my dazed and confused newbie state.

If you have a blogging tip, a TPT or TN tip, a Powerpoint tip or anything else someone just starting out online should know, please share!  If you already have a great post, please link up!

Thanks!

Hello and welcome to 5th! I have been running the 5th grade special education resource room in my school for 6 years. I love 5th grade and I hope you will too! I linked up the few things I have learned about blogging, but I only have been doing it since April.

Hi Mercedes! I heard about your linky party through Megan 🙂 I have been blogging for less than a month so I don't have any tips I can share – am looking to everyone else for tips! Maybe the one thing I can say to newbies is don't give up! I never thought I would ever understand some of the things I have done through blogging. But with help from other generous bloggers, it has been much easier. Thanks so much!

Could you please explain what "linking up" means? And how do I do it? *hugs*

Linking up means to contect a post from your blog to another blog. Let's say you wanted to link up here. You would write a post that included a tip. While writing that post you would copy and paste the code above which would put a link in your post to this page. After you publish it, you copy the URL. Then, you come here and click the "add your link" button. After pasting the URL and writing your blogs name, it lets you choose a picture from you post to the link. Then, this page would have a button that links to yours. If you link up when a Linky is new, a lot of people visit your log and some might become new followers.

I'm in the exact same spot – blogging for less than a month! Mercedes, I'm following your instructions, but where is the "add your link" button? Thanks!

Mercedes, I am finding your blog a year after you posted this, but I am in your shoes right now. I am a newbie trying to figure everything out. I am having a lot of fun, but have constant questions. Lots of Google searches and tutorials have helped. Thanks so much for the tips. The work you have done and are doing is an inspiration for me!

    Thank you,

    Melissa Kaylor 🙂
