I’ve been at my school for over 10 years and 5 principals. With the turn over of principals, you’d think I’d transfer. That is a lot of transition to go through. Why have I stayed?
I work with amazing teachers. I really do.
The teachers I work with are a family. They are hard working, fun, creative, innovative, and ready to learn. The dedication to collaboration and professional development is refreshing.
I learned more in my first year at my school than I did in five years at my previous school.
Why am I telling you this? This professional learning community is a perfect place for new teachers.
I’ve had the pleasure of being a Support Provider / mentor to several new teachers. This job is so much easier at a school like mine where everyone believes in collaboration. I have learned so much from and been so inspired by the teachers I’ve had the pleasure to mentor.
Sarah from Diapers, Dollars, and Diplomas and Jessica from Covered in Glitter and Glue were the first teachers I had the pleasure of mentoring. If you haven’t checked out their blogs, you really should.
Today, I have the pleasure of introducing you to Grace. She is a sweetheart who is enthusiastic and dedicated to differentiation in her classroom. She gave us a tour of her classroom earlier. She doesn’t have a blog but she just opened a TPT store and has so many FREEBIES to share with you.

just about to start my third year in second grade. I’m grateful to be working with Mercedes and
to have had her as my mentor teacher for the last two years through the BTSA
program. I worked alongside her before
she moved up to fifth grade. She is an
amazing teacher, and a lot of who I’ve grown to be professionally is because of
her wise advice through many years of successful teaching!
student and promote a love for learning.
I believe in the powerful saying, “every student can learn, just not on
the same day, or in the same way”. As a
beginning teacher, it was daunting to think about efficiently teaching every
student with the wide range of academic levels, interests, and needs in the
classroom. With lots of guidance and
practice, I make every effort to create differentiated lessons and a classroom
environment that meet the needs for each of my students.
and other teachers, I’ve finally started selling products on TeachersPayTeachers! It is a work in progress but I have some
great items up. Here’s a sneak peak of
some of my latest products.
“I Spy” is a game my students love. It is an engaging activity and allows students to move around the room. Simply print out the cards, laminate for durability, and tape them up around the room or place on desks. Students walk around the room and answer each card on their recording sheet.
