I keep most of my math materials in these two
areas.
areas.
My blue shelving holds the materials I use
the most: centimeter cubes, 1 in. colored tiles, protractors (I didn’t
even notice that my sign was spelled wrong until I had this pic right in front
of me, oh my!), rulers, dominos, and compasses.

I thought I was being smart when
I decided to paint the tubs, put on letter stickers and then cover them with
Modge Podge, but as you can see the paint is flaking….

The next shelf also has game
pieces. This time I was a little smarter and bought clear containers.
I still used the letter stickers and Modge Podge. They are holding up a
little better.

Next to the blue bookshelf are
the 5 drawers that hold my math games. I haven’t switched them to common
core yet but will soon. I made some free common core signs, unfortunately
they are only for 5th and 6th grade.

the supplies that I don’t use as often: overhead manipulatives, fraction
strips, cuisenaire rods, pattern blocks, tangrams and pentominos.

Hi Mercedes! I read your post at Coffee Cups and Lesson Plans, where you mentioned the transitioning to the Common Core Standards. In New York, our standardized tests this year will already be implementing CCS, so we've had to make a lot of changes already. You may know these already, but if not, these are some sources I've found very helpful: engageny.org and parcconline.org
Nice blog! Mine is http://meatballsinthemiddle.blogspot.com/

Wow, this post really got me motivated to organize my classroom when I get back from break. I moved into a retired teacher's room this year and still haven't sifted through everything since I wasn't sure what I'd be keeping/pitching. Thanks for the great ideas.:)

Cute ideas! I am a new K teacher blogger! I am a Kindergarten teacher right outside of Nashville (Franklin). I am trying to get my name out there and for people to check out my blog. I am having a hard time tapping in to the teaching blogging world. Any advice/shout-outs would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
