Our interactive white boards have been installed. We haven’t had training on them yet, but I’m a learn-by-doing / impatient kind of learner.
Some of the things I love:
1. I love how excited the kids are to come up and write on the board.
2. I love seeing my Powerpoint Expectations blown up and huge.
3. I love pointing to those expectations and asking a child to read one to me and then watching them follow it.
4. I love showing YouTube videos (educational of course).
5. I love how my 5th graders will grow quieter than seems humanly possible when I say they can earn the chance to watch a video if they do xyz.
6. I love that there are more resources out there than I have time to wrap my mind around.
One of the resource I’ve enjoyed exploring is : PBS LearningMedia
The first day that I went there, it said I could only look at one thing until I was signed up. I signed up but it still wouldn’t let me look at more so I forgot about it. Then, a week later, I got an email from them welcoming me. I’m not sure why it took so long, but I’m glad I went back and tried again. There are tons of videos and interactive games that are great for a smart board!
