I’m a rule follower. (Probably to a fault.) So, when I started thinking about sharing items I created for my classroom, I was completely overwhelmed. I didn’t want to break any rules. I spent a day looking through clipart I’d downloaded, reading Terms of Use policies, and realized I’d have to start from scratch to make sure I credited the right people and followed their expectations.
I was overwhelmed.
I know I’m not alone in this because some of the teachers I’ve encouraged to start a TPT or TN account, have expressed that they made things for their classroom and didn’t keep track of where the clipart came from. A lot of us are rule followers. How can we spend all day teaching rules, procedures and expectations and not have that blend in to the rest of our lives? We have a respect for all things fair and organized.
I was so overwhelmed, I decided it would be easier to just use only things I created. Wow, I had no idea how much work that would be. I’ve spent more time creating backgrounds and clipart than any of my other products. But, I love it!
This week I saw Corinna from
mention me in a post about clipart and discovered there is a linky called Where do you Get Your Clipart?
I spent some time this week wondering if it is in poor taste to join the linky and introduce my clipart to some new people. I hope it’s not, because I’ve decided to go for it.
Hi. My name is Mercedes Hutchens and I’m addicted to making clipart.
You can use my clipart, backgrounds, and fonts for whatever purpose you like.
Commercial Use is OK.
I’d appreciate it if you’d credit me. You can use these images if you’d like.
So, my first obsession was backgrounds. I started with polka dots.
Then my obsession grew to frames.
Of course, I had to try chevron.
There are others:
I discovered that some people aren’t comfortable inserting picture so I made a tutorial and I started making some editable products.
Then came clipart….
Today I added:
Would you like some FREEBIES? Silly question right?
Well, in my stores you can find many free fonts:
You can find this free background in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness (available in October):
Here is a new freebie for everyone: a thanksgiving turkey
Everything in my TPT store, my TN clip art shop and my TN teacher product shop are 20% off until the 30th of October.
Thanks for the trip down my clipart making obsession lane. I just started in July but I’m hooked! I love brightening up my classroom and knowing that I’ve brightened a few others as well.
Thanks,

Love the turkey! I have started saving my clip art in folders with the artist's name. That way I know who it came from before I even use it. It takes a little extra time, but it is so worth it!
Thanks for the freebie!
