One thing I’m enjoying about teaching 5th grade math is seeing how the math I taught in 2nd grade is still being used. I’ll be busting out the rounding poem Monday morning, but I thought I’d go the more ‘sophisticated’ route and use one of my chevron frames rather than a cute picture poem.
While I’m introducing the Rounding Whole Number Lesson, I plan to teach them the following strategy. I want them to think about what they are doing before just drawing a bunch of zeros. During the independent practice, I’ll let them just write the answer using the approximate symbol.
You can find the three page PDF file here.
Everything I made was electronic this weekend. After my first full week of school, my mind was racing but my body was tired. I had a request for more Chevron Editable Labels. I decided to make more Chevron Frames and Backgrounds while I was at it. They are all available at my TPT store and TN shops.
This variety pack contains 30 chevron frames as PNGs for $3. |
Editable Frames PowerPoints are available in a variety of colors. |
I also made this Order of Operations Pack. I started out wanting a foldable and it morphed into more. It’s on sale at TPT for $1.50 |
Thanks for stopping by!

Wow, you have been very busy!! I love the rounding activity. We don't round in 2nd with Common Core, but my third grader does. I will have to work with her on this;) Thanks for the fun freebie;)
